Mixmag Presents Spencer & Hill, Le Castle Vania & Dallas K at Control

We’ve got something super special for you this Friday- Mixmag, one of the world’s largest dance music magazines, has teamed up with us to throw a proper party at Control. Spencer & Hill, Le Castle Vania, and Dallas K will be on the decks to ensure we have great tunes pumping the whole night.

German duo SPENCER & HILL have released quite a few massive club tunes (think ‘Cool’ and ‘Right On Time’) since their debut back in 2005. Since then, they’ve worked their way up to the top with their notable remixes and collaborations. Just last October, they teamed up with EDM vocalist Nadia Ali for ‘Believe It.’ And we almost certainly believe they’ll be dropping that one at Avalon on Friday…

LE CASTLE VANIA, otherwise known as Dylan Eiland, broke out of the scene in Georgia and quickly gained notoriety for his energetic sets and electro sound. His passion for music comes out during his shows, and we’re glad to have him back at Avalon for another round this Friday.

Unless you’ve been under a rock the past few months, you’ve probably seen the name DALLAS K floating around. Originally from Orlando, Florida, Dallas has been making music since the tender age of 15 and DJing since 17. His first show in Los Angeles was at Avalon a few months ago, and we’re lucky enough to see him take the stage again at the end of this week. If you haven’t caught him yet, you’ll definitely want to make it out to watch this young producer work magic on the CDJs.

Control Friday: Daedalus, Nosaj Thing & Two Fresh

It’s may only be the beginning of the week, but that isn’t stopping us from getting excited about this weekend’s lineup at Control. Daedalus, Nosaj Thing & Two Fresh will be gracing us with their presence on Friday, and we highly suggest you be there to witness it.

DAEDALUS, otherwise known as Alfred Darlington, has perfected the art of ‘experimental’ music. Ok, so that sounds a bit cliche- but take a listen for yourself. His use of ethereal synths, creative samples, and changing rhythms makes listening to his music an experience in itself.

Darlington and NOSAJ THING have not only toured together (check out this video covering their Magical Properties Tour), but they’ve also remixed each other’s tunes. To top it all off, TWO FRESH will be joining the lineup.

Between all of these guys, their hardware, and their unique sound, the dancefloor is going to get pretty groovy on Friday. Buy your pre-sale tickets HERE, or RSVP for the discount list by sending full names to iparty@whiteliteproductions.net by 6pm Friday.

Skrillex Topping Off The Year With 5 Grammy Nominations

I think we can say without hesitation that SKRILLEX’s Grammy nominations came as a bit of a surprise for everyone. Not that he doesn’t deserve them – his humility, passion for music, and extensive work in the studio are just a few of the reasons why he should be in line for one of these trophies. But for the EDM world, this is really incredible. While dance music can no longer be considered underground as a whole, it still hasn’t been fully accepted by the mainstream as a key player in the music scene. So for a producer who began gaining recognition just a few short years ago to be nominated for multiple Grammys, we’d say that, well, the times they are a-changin.

While Skrillex is going head to head with fellow electronic music producers Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, & Deadmau5 for Best Dance Recording and Best Dance Album, he’s the first EDM producer to ever be nominated for Best New Artist. And that, in and of itself, is an accomplishment. Congratulations, Sonny!

Control Friday: Ajapai, Phonat, Flinch & DigitaLife

If you missed out on Control with Bart B More last Friday, we’re giving you another chance to work off that Thanksgiving meal on the dance floor. This Friday, Ajapai, Phonat, Flinch, & DigitaLife are coming to satisfy your post-holiday EDM fix.

DJ/producer AJAPAI will be stopping by Control as he winds down his North American tour. Originally from Tokyo, he has released a collection of heavy, bass-ridden dubstep tunes, some of which he’ll surely drop at Avalon. If you want to get a little preview of the face-melting action, check out ‘Who Got the Bomb.’

Italian producer PHONAT has been gaining speed in the electronic music scene for the past few years with his remixes for His Majesty Andrea, Andrea Doria LXR (aka Lutzenkirchen), Skrillex, and Dizzee Rascal. He’s also released his own album as well as several EPs, where he exercises his creative blending of genres. Phonat’s music videos are also something to brag about. Go ahead, watch one.

Orange County dubstep producer FLINCH (remember that awesome dub remix of ‘Youth Blood,’ by Little Jinder? Well that was 12th Planet & Flinch’s baby) as well as San Diego natives DIGITALIFE, will be making an appearance on Friday.

Bart B More, Vandalism, Codes, + Neon Stereo

It all began in Holland, where after a few short years of DJing, BART B MORE quickly gained international appeal with his production and remixing skills. Some personal favorites are “Don’t Stop The Music,” “Brap,” and his recent release with Harvard Bass, “The Funky One”- the title says it all. If you’ve caught one of Bart’s sets before, you know how fun and energetic they are. If you haven’t, you’re not gonna want to sit this Control out.

VANDALISM, one of Australia’s leading dance music duos, are also invading the stage this Friday, joined by CODES and NEON STEREO.

Mr. White Does Vegas, Mau5 Style

First off, if you’re going to be in Vegas this weekend, we’re a little jealous.  Not only is Sin City home to amazing restaurants, shopping, and swanky hotels, but there’s also an endless supply of entertainment. And lucky for EDM fans, there is always great shows with killer lineups.

This Saturday, our own MR. WHITE will be accompanying SANDER KLEINENBERG and  DEADMAU5 for the “Into the Nether” Official Minecon After-Party at one of Vegas’ most talked about clubs, XS. Mr. White will be warming up the dance floor with an opening set, so early arrival is suggested!

There’s complimentary admission for Minecon attendees (be sure to bring your Minecon badge). For everyone else, you can purchase tickets here.

Mustard Pimp (Live), Hot Pink Delorean, BetatraXx + More at Control This Friday

The countdown until the weekend has begun, and it’s time to get excited for yet another Control Friday at Avalon Hollywood. This week MUSTARD PIMP, HOT PINK DELOREAN, and BETATRAXX will be taking the stage.

French duo Baron and eKa, aka Mustard Pimp, have made quite an impression on the electro scene since their debut in 2008. They’ve remixed artists such as Crookers, Dada Life, and  Atari Teenage Riot, and have come out with a plethora of original bangers of their own- “ZHM”, “Cherry,” and earlier this year teaming up with frontman Jimmy Urine from MSI for “Money Shot.” Their set this Friday at Avalon won’t be one to miss.

Boston natives Hot Pink Delorean can be associated with a wide array of EDM genres, from electro to progressive house and back. They’ve got remixes for Basshunter, Designer Drugs, and Gamble & Burke under their belt, and also teamed up with Mustard Pimp in June of last year for their original “Rock.” We’re looking forward to seeing what kind of energy they put into their set on Friday!

If producer/dj BetatraXx hasn’t been on your radar, he should be. Otherwise known as Tim Nelson, BetatraXx has pumped out memorable dance remixes (think his vocal remix of Dada Life’s “Unleash the Fucking Dada”) as well as a handful of catchy originals. If you didn’t catch his last set at Avalon back in July, be sure to make it onto the dance floor for this one.

Oh, and did we mentioned that Mustard Pimp’s set is live? As if you need another reason to go.

Don’t wait, purchase your pre-sale tickets today!

Music lovers everywhere mourn the loss of DJ Mehdi

On September 13th, tragedy struck the world of hip-hop and electronic music when it was announced that 34-year-old DJ Mehdi had died. Reports stated that the French electro producer was celebrating the birthday of friend DJ Riton, when a skylight in the Plexiglas floor of his apartment in Paris shattered, resulting in the 23-foot fall of Medhi and three friends.

Born Mehdi Favris-Essadi, DJ Mehdi was known for massive electro-house productions.  Mehdi released solo work as part of the Paris collective Ed Banger, and he collaborated with artists such as Chromeo, Justice’s Xavider de Rosnay, Daft Punk, Cassiusas, as well as fellow French producers Riton and Busy P.

Artists and close friends of Mehdi have since expressed their sadness and grief over his sudden death via social media outlets, such as Facebook and Twitter. On Tuesday morning Ed Banger released the following statement “It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our friend DJ Mehdi. Our thought are with his family and loved ones.”

It goes without saying that DJ Mehdi will be truly missed.
