We caught up with Stockholm based DJ/producer Style of Eye before he makes his return to Avalon tonight. With plenty of new releases on their way and a motto like "music, not genres," we're sure he'll be providing a wide variety of tunes for our listening pleasure. Continue reading to find out what Sweden is like, who he thinks we should keep an eye out for, and don't miss his set tonight at Control- he goes on at 12am.
WL: Outside of electronic artists, who would be your dream collaboration?
SOE: Joanna Newsom.
WL: You've managed to avoid being pigeon-holed genre-wise when it comes to your productions. Who/what inspires you to be so musically diverse?
SOE: I am too restless to stay in one place, always wanted to try new things.
WL: What are your thoughts on the "America is killing dance music" discussion?
SOE: I cant relate to that really. I´m having the best of times touring the states, the crowds are in general very up for new sounds.
WL: With many talented producers hailing from Sweden, it's automatic to assume that the dance music scene is thriving there. What is it really like?
SOE: Its cold and lots of snow. I guess that keeps us on our toes production-wise.
WL: Any up and coming producers to look out for?
SOE: DJ Carli and Tom Starr.
WL: You've had multiple releases this year, including your remix for Miike Snow, a collaboration with Crookers & Carli, and a handful of your own originals. You've also just embarked on your Summer tour in the U.S. What else is in store for you this year?
SOE: My remix for Kylie´s Timebomb was just released, and next is a release on Fool´s Gold. Got a brand new remix of "I love it" with Icona Pop and loads of stuff coming this fall. very excited about it all at the moment.
WL: We're excited to have you back at Avalon. What can we expect from your set at Control?
SOE: I´m stoked to be back, I´m gonna bring energy and fun to the party. Roadtesting a lot of new music too..
